As with may religious celebrations in Eritrea, there was an early start to the Epiphany celebration. Groups from churches arrived from 6am onwards (although some claimed to spend the whole night there). The climax of the morning was the blessing of the water in the lake, after this the crowds attempt to collect some water and take in home for good luck.
