Eritrean Independence Day is celebrated on May 24th. On the eve of Independence thousands of people walk the length of Independence Avenue many times starting at around 5pm. Some street performers help pass the time before the firework display at midnight. Kathryn and I celebrated by walking with our special balloons!!
