We took a short (~5km) walk along to the road to Massawa just after new year. The church is right at the highest point of the road after leaving Asmara. Further on the road begins the 2400m decent to Massawa and the Red Sea. Along the way we stopped for tea a couple of times before returning to Asmara in the cab of a truck!!
